Depending on your personal preference this can stay super cheap or get very expensive. From experience the bag or box is the last thing your guest will be concerned with. Extra cute ones will just be that...an extra cute touch. Not having it will not affect your overall reaction from your guests.The paper bags in the above picture are a small white paper bag by Wilton. I found them at Michael's in the wedding/candy section for $9.99 for 100. Then stamped them with a large "Thanks You!" stamp. They really hold just the right amount of candy. They are perfect for large gatherings and can be dressed up in many different ways. Below I used a 'G' monogram stamp and added a thin damask ribbon using a double hole punch.
